David Steward, Owner

I have been working in the waste industry for over 25 years!

  • I started in the industry on the back of a garbage truck picking up residential trash

  • Did sales for a previous national waste company

  • Ran a trucking and transfer station

  • Procured customers for a regional landfill

  • Helped build a local special waste company

  • And now own and operate BCE.

I have worked with all industries and manufacturers, no matter the size of the customer, but have expertise in refinery and healthcare wastes.

Best Choice Environmental, inc.

Best Choice Environmental was started due to all of the consolidation in the industry leaving facilities with limited choices for waste handling and no local option.

Having a permitted facility in Western Wisconsin allows BCE to handle all waste types with cost effective transportation for companies throughout all of Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Our local and customer focused team will assist in finding the proper disposal option for any type of waste. We do not own any end facility but have relationships and accounts with all types of disposal facilities so we make sure your waste goes to the proper disposal facility in the most cost effective manner.

We can provide services for companies that wish to not have any landfill liability and have many recycling options as well as wastewater treatment abilities.

Company History

  • BCE was organized in 2015 by Dave Steward in order to focus on providing generators in Wisconsin and Minnesota with industrial and hazardous waste management services. Tom Lance joined immediately to offer services to generators throughout this area. Mike Derleth was added in late 2020 and Logan Ambrose was added in February of 2022 to add additional sales support for the business. Dave and Tom have well over 25 years each of waste handling expertise working for national companies.

  • In 2021, BCE permitted a facility in Somerset, WI to bulk containerized wastes for ultimate recycling, waste to energy, waste water treatment, or disposal.

  • With the addition of the facility, BCE now handles Medical and Pharmaceutical Wastes.

  • We have established a local option for incineration of non-hazardous materials. This process was developed when we recognized the need for facilities to have a non landfill option of disposal.

  • BCE has established the ability to offer anaerobic digestion recycling of organic products of all types, including outdated/off spec food wastes and ingredients.
